Biography
Prof. Nana Yaw Asabere is an Associate Professor in the Computer Science Department and serves as the Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences at Accra Technical University (ATU), Ghana. He graduated from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, Ghana, in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Computer Science (CS) and from Aalborg University in Aalborg, Denmark, in 2010 with a Master of Science (MSc.) in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). In addition, he received a Full Scholarship from the Chinese Government via the Chinese Scholarship Council (CSC) in September 2011 to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computer Science at Dalian University of Technology, China and completed it in September 2014.
Prof. Asabere has six (6) years of academic leadership experience at the tertiary level of education in Ghana, along with eighteen (18) years of teaching (graduate and undergraduate levels), research, and research project supervision experience. He has served in various capacities at ATU, including Director—Directorate of Research, Innovation, Publication, and Technology Transfer (DRIPTT), HOD Computer Science Department, Coordinator/Head of the Department for Non-Tertiary and Professional Programmes, and Examinations Officer, Computer Science Department.
Prof. Asabere has several publications in respectable, high-impact journals and conference proceedings from IEEE, ACM, Wiley, and IGI Global, all of which are indexed in Web of Science and Scopus. He currently has 474 citations in Scopus (h-index = 12) and 874 citations in Google Scholar (h-index = 15, i10 index = 16) for research articles. He presently has 897 citations, an h-index of seventeen (17), and an 18.54 RG Score (Impact Points) in Research Gate.
Currently, Prof. Asabere is interested in teaching and technological research in the following areas: software engineering, artificial intelligence, data science, big data, mobile and social recommender systems, and ICT in education (e-learning and m-learning). He received the Best Paper Award at the 10th IEEE International Conference on Ubiquitous Intelligence and Computing (2013) and at the 7th IEEE International Conference on Adaptive Science & Technology (2018).
Prof. Asabere is currently a member of IEEE, the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society (CIS), and the Institute of ICT Professionals Ghana (IIPGh). He financially mobilised €200,000 through the AFOS Foundation for Entrepreneurial Development Cooperation to oversee ATU’s Digital Capacity (DigiCAP) Training Program.
