What a week it has been! The annual COMPSSA Week wrapped up last Friday with unforgettable moments of fun, learning, and community. From Monday’s opening ceremony to Friday’s grand finale, the week brought together students from every level of the Computer Science department for a celebration of tech culture and togetherness.
Monday — Opening Ceremony & Jersey Day
The week kicked off with an opening ceremony in the main lecture hall, where the COMPSSA President outlined the week’s activities and challenged students to participate fully. Students rocked their department jerseys with pride — the green and gold were everywhere across campus. A group photo at the ATU entrance captured the spirit of the department.
Tuesday — Quiz & Trivia Night
Teams of four battled it out in an evening of tech trivia, covering everything from programming concepts and computer history to memes and pop culture. The winning team — “Stack Overflow” — took home gift vouchers and bragging rights. Shoutout to the quiz master, Mr. Isaac Bansah, who kept the energy high throughout the night.
Wednesday — Sports Day
The HND vs BTech football match was the highlight of the day, with the BTech team clinching a narrow 2-1 victory in a thrilling match. The ladies’ volley competition was equally entertaining. Refreshments were served, and the sportsmanship was top-notch. A reminder that CS students aren’t just about keyboards — we bring the energy on the pitch too!
Thursday — Workshop & Career Day
Industry speakers from Hubtel, Turntabl, and Andela Ghana shared insights on breaking into the tech industry, building portfolios, and the importance of open-source contributions. A live coding session on building REST APIs with Node.js drew a packed room. Students left with new connections and a fire to build.
Friday — Grand Finale & Awards Night
The week closed with an awards ceremony recognizing academic excellence, sporting achievements, and contributions to the COMPSSA community. The “CS Student of the Year” award went to a well-deserving final-year student whose project on AI-driven crop disease detection impressed everyone. The evening ended with music, dancing, and a shared sense of belonging.
Thank You
A big thank you to the COMPSSA executives, the faculty advisor, all the sponsors, and most importantly — the students who showed up and made it memorable. COMPSSA Week is a yearly tradition that reminds us why we chose this path.
See you next year for COMPSSA Week 2027!
