Our graduates are making waves in the technology industry both in Ghana and internationally. In this alumni spotlight, we celebrate three former Computer Science students who have gone on to build impressive careers in tech.
Emmanuel K. — Software Engineer at Google, Zurich
Emmanuel graduated from ATU’s BTech Computer Science programme in 2019. After completing his national service, he participated in the Google Africa Developer Scholarship, which led to an internship and eventually a full-time role at Google’s Zurich office. He works on the Android team, contributing to features used by billions of people worldwide.
“ATU gave me the foundation. The problem-solving mindset I developed in the CS department — debugging code at 2 AM, figuring out algorithms on whiteboards — that’s exactly what I do every day at Google, just at a bigger scale.”
Abigail M. — Data Scientist at MTN Ghana
Abigail completed her HND at ATU before pursuing her BTech and later a Master’s degree in Data Science. Today, she leads the customer analytics team at MTN Ghana, using machine learning models to improve service delivery for millions of subscribers.
“I remember attending the COMPSSA Tech Fair as a first-year student and being amazed by what the final-years were building. That inspiration stuck with me. Now I mentor young women in tech because I know how much representation matters.”
Kwame D. — Founder & CTO, PayStack Alternative
Kwame took an entrepreneurial path after graduation, co-founding a fintech startup that provides mobile payment solutions for small businesses across West Africa. His company has raised seed funding and currently serves over 10,000 merchants.
“The best thing about studying CS at ATU was the community. COMPSSA isn’t just an association — it’s a network. Some of my co-founders and earliest supporters were classmates from the department.”
